It's Fall At Our Place

Yesterday Bryan, the big O, and I went to a nearby pumpkin patch. Bryan and I each picked out a pumpkin and then we picked one out for the big O. These are our pumpkins in all their glory while we waited to pay for them.

It's perhaps not quite as vibrant in this picture as it is in real life, but this yellow tree is quite yellow. It reminded Bryan and me of the red tree back in OC.

This rainbow was right outside our window a few days ago! I know the picture doesn't do it justice at all, but it was a HUGE, beautiful double rainbow. I don't think I had ever seen so much of a rainbow before in my life.

And last, but certainly not least, I thought I'd share the info on these. Bryan and I got the recipe for these cake balls from Bakerella. You can find the recipe here and a bunch of great varaitions of them here. Her's are much, much more impressive looking. We've been giving these away to a bunch of friends lately and a lot of you have asked for the recipe, so now you have it!

A few quick tips on making the cake balls:
-Put the cake/frosting mixture in the fridge for a while before you start making the balls. It's much less frustrating this way. I put my bowl of mush back in the fridge quite a few times as I rolled them into balls.
-Once you've made the balls, stick them in the freezer for a long while before you dip them in the chocolate. This also makes the whole process much easier.
-Let the finished cake balls cool in the fridge for a while before eating them or giving them away. They taste a lot better once they have that chocolatey satisfying crunch.

Enjoy!
