Getting over my fear of no comments

As you may have guessed from this post, I really like comments. They are the whole fun of blogging! I mean, no matter what somebody may tell you, they wouldn't blog if they didn't want people to read their stuff. And comments confirm that somebody is reading your stuff. Yes, you can put trackers on your blog that tell you how many hits you've had that day, but it just isn't quite the same. (Not that I'd know. I still haven't gotten around to having Bryan hook that up for me... errr... I mean doing that.) It's like the difference between passing somebody on the street and just doing that silent "eh" wave-and-acknowledge kind of thing and actually pausing in your day to say hello to a friend or stranger. I like being said hello to by friends and strangers. Which is why I get a little paranoid that if I post too often they won't comment as much. Or rather, that they won't look at every single post and comment on every single one. But that's a bit impractical anyway. I mean, I can hardly expect all of my friends (and welcome strangers) to be interested in every single post I write. That would be like... enough with the metaphors. Anyway, so I guess NaBloPoMo will perhaps get me past my fear of having a post go by without comments. Does it still count toward getting over that fear if I'm linking to a post I wrote just last night? Probably not.

I'll leave comments for you Katie...but I guess it's probably still not the same when your mom and sister are the only ones who comment. ;) I do miss Bryan's posts sometimes, so I'm happy he'll write more...and you too of course.

I read your fear of no comments and how you said that a counter wasn't the same. And then I thought about how happy a counter would make me, so I added one and I am happier. I urge you to reconsider how happy a counter might make you.

Man, this is great. But, sometimes, when I do get comments I'm almost embarassed that 1) I made a bunch of typos, like that I can't spell embarrassed... and 2) that I really do sound like an idiot.

i totally feel the same way. sometimes random people will mention something they saw on my blog, but i always want to say... "then why didn't you comment". ugh. i feel like a loser sometimes posting things that i think no one reads. i may have to post about this fear on my blog as well. and i think i will definitely have to get a counter. i could use a blog self-esteem boost. i'm super excited about blogging for 30 days with you though, and i'll make sure to leave lots of comments :).

Hi. I linked to you on my NaBloPoMo intro post. I hope that's OK! Let me know if not I'll consider taking it down :).

So...I'm guessing you are Chris' sister?

That's why you're such and great comment-er!! :) I'll try to be better to you... because you make me feel good. It's so nice to know people read your blogs. And it's true. I only write things that I want people to read! :)

Speaking of comment typos: "Let me know if not AND I'll consider..." It's as if Blogger randomly chooses a word to omit or misspell once we've pressed Publish.

I'm willing to bet you will get more comments from NABLOPOMO than before. Mostly, because of Trish's resolution to be a dedicated commenter.

I went on blogger strike for a little while because I posted 2 blogs and NO ONE commented!! I live for the comments!! I would not bother writing if I didn't want people to see/read it... and I need to know that people are reading it by them leaving comments! Anyways, just saying I feel your pain! :)

I see you got a counter. ;)

Polly- it is fake. Did you see how many hits it has? I have left it up only so Chris can see that we are getting the same number of hits at the same unreal rate. I am taking it down soon. Maybe now.
