Children's Literature

Sorry, I know I'm the picture-less wonder lately.  I've been a little lazy about uploading pictures and I was going to buckle down and do it right now, but then I chickened out about posting pictures because, again, we might be giving some of the things I just got as gifts.  Anyway, on to what I actually signed on to say...

I love children's literature.  Absolutely love it.  I love the way that the stories you read as a child seem to stay with you forever.

(Makes me think of this clip from You've Got Mail, specifically 1:06-1:17.)

Okay, okay, so maybe I know this movie a little too well, but it's true!

Anyway, this is all by way of saying that good quality children's literature on good sale is a total weakness for me.  A bookstore near our house was having a big clearance sale today and I bought quite a few books, most of which were about 50% off.  And that's hard to beat.  And hard to say no to.  So I ended up spending about $30 for 5 brand new, excellent condition, first rate children's books today.  Although one of those books was a Disney collection for 1/2 off, so I feel even better about  my purchase.  And while it certainly doesn't beat thrift store prices, you simply can't count on always finding these kinds of books in good condition in a thrift store.  Doesn't anyone else get this way about kid's books?

I feel investing in a book, especially a children's book, is a great thing. I have so many fond memories of sitting in front of the bookshelf at home and just reading. and looks at all the books. and not helping with dishes. Haha!

Oh yes, I have a hard time turning down cheap books...and our bookshelves show it.

I love buying books. Especially books that are on sale. I stock up and save them for birthdays, and other presents. You can never have too many good books laying around.

Hi Katie. I am Alex's sister-in-law and found you from her blog. (I think we actually share the same last name, how about that.) Anyway, I've been admiring your fantastic crafts and sewing projects for a while, but decided I finally needed to comment on this post with an emphatic YES! I am a total sucker for children's books, and somehow I can't really feel guilty for it, either!(Oh, and I love You've Got Mail, too.)

So now you know... there's one more person in the blogosphere who is enjoying your blog and sharing your affinity for children's books. Have a great day!
