Sometimes when I'm outside with Olivia just chillin' at the playground one of the other moms will ask me how to do some crafty thing. And, believe it or not (and you should believe it), most of the time I have no idea to do what they're asking me about. So what do I do? I tell them exactly this:
Go look it up on One Pretty Thing.
Most of them have never heard of One Pretty Thing. (I know, crazy to think that not everybody in the world is nuts about craft blogs.) But, chances are, if you're over here looking at my little blog for craft ideas, then you have heard of it. But did you know this?
One Pretty Thing has an amazing search engine.
Want to know how to make something?
Simply go to the homepage of One Pretty Thing.
Look to your right. Ta-da! There it is in all its glory: the search box.
Type in what you're looking for and click "go."
Most likely, you'll find pages and pages of wonderful ideas to make exactly what you were looking for. (If not, try using a different key word.)
Other than helping me keep up on craft blog current events, this search is my favorite part of One Pretty Thing.
And one other thing. Rachel, the girl who runs the site, is so nice. I had been following One Pretty Thing for a long time before I had ever written a tutorial. And then after I did write a tutorial I wanted to show it off a little (we all do, right?). But I waited for somebody to notice it and... nothing really happened. Finally, feeling totally sheepish and ready for rejection, I e-mailed Rachel with a link to my tutorial. And you know what? She was SO nice about it! I know she doesn't always have time to reply to every single e-mail and I know she can't post every single thing she sees, but she is super encouraging and kind. I still e-mail her links to my piddly little tutorials most of the time and she is always so nice about it. Yesterday she did a little written interview on Meylah. It was a good read. Nice to know more about the lady behind the site. You can check out the interview HERE.
And I know you're probably all thinking that this post was some gimmicky bit of advertising, but I swear it's not. I just wanted to share all that with you to spread the word about Rachel's wonderful site and wonderful self. And I wanted to give back a little bit of attention to Rachel since a lot of the attention I get here on my site comes from her.
And for all of you who are just starting out in the blogging world and feeling a little sheepish, I definitely encourage you to pass those little tutorials you've written on to Rachel. You won't regret it. :)
