(Another napkin I embroidered... just for fun.)
I've been making things. I've been sewing and crafting and whatnot. But I can't show you what I've been up to. Which makes things rather uneventful over here on the ol' blog-o. A little ironic, no? The reason I can't show you what I've been up to is because I've been busy making birthday presents that haven't been opened yet and even a few Christmas presents. What can I say? I like to get an early start.
I've grown a lot over the past year or so that I've been sharing my little creations with you here on my blog. Anyone who has put a serious amount of time and some super late nights into a blog sooner or later begins to ask themselves, "Why am I doing this?!" But there's one good reason right there as to why I keep this up. Sharing the things I make and trying to think of new things I want to make has really pushed me to practice good technique and improve my skills. And I really feel that I've gotten a lot better at some things that used to scare me a little (as far as making things goes, anyway). Also, keeping up with blogs is, in my opinion, a lot cheaper than buying patterns from the fabric store.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that my skills are improving enough that I feel like I can make Christmas presents that will actually be worthwhile and appreciated without having to buy a lot of expensive materials. So a month or two ago Bryan and I made a list of gifts we want to give for Christmas and I'm (very) slowly whittling away at that little list. And it's fun! But I just can't bring myself to take pictures and show you what I'm making. Well, I have been taking pictures and I do plan to show you what I'm making, but not until after the gifts have been given and opened and appropriately oogled over by their beneficiaries. It just doesn't seem fun to give gifts that they've all been seeing pictures of on my blog for months. So you'll all just have to wait until January to see what I've been working on. Sorry!
In the mean time, do any of you out there have great ideas you'd like to share that you think would make great Christmas presents? Because, really, if it's going to be cheaper to make than to buy, it's best to start early when you can find materials on clearance or at garage sales or for free. So, I didn't start writing this post with this in mind, but I'll put up a little link up thing below and if you have a great Christmas gift idea (for anyone--boys, girls, men, women, grandparents, etc) please link it up below so we can all get the gift-giving juices flowing. It of course doesn't have to be Christmas-themed. Just anything you think might make someone happy to receive. And feel free to link as many times as you'd like. Really. :) Or if you'd like, feel free to just leave a note in the comments with an idea you'd like to share. Thanks everyone!
Merry (very very early) Christmas!
