Happy Labor Day! Some of you are off on shopping sprees or hiking or having lots of family fun time. We are not. Well, we are having fun together as a family, but we're doing it here...rearranging...again.
We live in a tiny apartment. Have I told you that before? Tiny. In fact, I was never quite so aware how teeny tiny our little apartment was until we got on this whole "we're moving in 8 months" kick and started researching places to live in a few other cities. Let's just say that most two bedroom apartments are at least double the size of the one we're currently in. Yeah, now would be an appropriate time to be impressed with my organizational skills/ ability to maintain sanity in small, confined spaces.
So, a while ago I rearranged things to create a sewing space for myself. Let me tell you--it is awesome. Truly fantastic. I have gotten so much done. I really do need to show it to you sometime. I have been meaning to for weeks, maybe even months, but whenever I think about posting pictures it always makes me want to just go be there instead of writing about it. So someday I promise I will. Because I think you'll like it. And I think it will be proof of how impressed you should be by my organizational skills.
Anyway, when I rearranged things to make my little sewing space one of the new arrangements was that our very large, nice dresser that we've been borrowing (thank you!) from my sister's in-laws was moved into Olivia's room. This seemed like a slightly inconvenient, but okay decision.
Umm... actually, it turned out to be a really dumb decision. Because now I love my sewing space and refuse to give it up (Bryan didn't even consider that as an option--true love), but there's no room for the large, nice dresser in our bedroom. Oh, and why doesn't it work in Olivia's bedroom? Because basically every time we need to get to our clothes she is sleeping. Don't get me wrong, it's great that she takes naps, but it has quite literally been cramping our style. So we've been brainstorming other options for a little while and today we're finally putting our plan into effect. Maybe if you're really good I'll take some pictures to share with you all. Perhaps to give some of you fellow tiny apartment-dwellers some survival ideas.
Here's a hint about our solution: we're giving the nice dresser back to my sister's nice in-laws. And we're not replacing it.
