Today feels like Saturday

Lace Brooch (see tutorial HERE)
Yesterday was the last day of classes for Bryan before Thanksgiving break, but he had planned on going in to work for a few hours this morning.  That was, of course, until the "blizzard" warning was issued and all of campus was shut down at 3pm yesterday.  So Bryan was sent home from work and we stayed in our cozy apartment, waiting for snow so terrible and thick that we wouldn't even be able to see the buildings right next to us.

Ahem.

If that was a blizzard here yesterday, then let me just say that I survived many such blizzards--probably at least once a year--growing up in Oregon City.  (Note: for those of you who are not familiar with the Portland, Oregon area and fail to grasp just how pathetic that reference is supposed to be, just know that it hardly ever snows and sticks in the Portland area.  But when it does, everybody goes crazy.)  Yes, our blizzard that was supposed to commence at 4pm yesterday didn't start until hours later and consisted of snow that came down in nice slow and fluffy flakes...and didn't even stick to the roads.  It was pretty pathetic.

Anyway, the point was, it got Bryan out of work.  Yay!  Not that he has a bad job or anything.  He has a great job--quite possibly one of the top five student jobs on campus--but I still like to have him home every chance I get.  :)

And so, since we're all home today and we don't have church, it feels like Saturday.  Yay!  It also feels like Saturday because I really want us to do all of our chores today.  We're spending Thanksgiving with relatives and friends and we've already decided that we're going to decorate for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving, so it would be really nice if we could clean the apartment today so it would all be nice and clean and ready to decorate on Friday.  Ya know what I'm sayin'?

Anyway, I'm off to start cleaning.  And to keep Olivia from trying to "type" on the laptop with me and pull on the internet cords.  Wish me luck.

Yesterday totally felt like Saturday because while it wasn't snowing, it had snowed a lot the night before and the drifts were too deep on the roads for people to get through. (I now respect snow drift a lot more when I sent Katie out to walk across the vacant field to school and she got stuck half way there in snow up past her knees...bad mom...send my kindergartener out into the snow drift. I had to throw Becca into her crib and leave Seth to run wild while I went and rescued her and walked her the rest of the way to school.)

Yay for snow days! Especially when they're pathetic, and you score an extra day together.

I am feeling the need to speak up for my northwest homeland: Two winters ago we had two feet of snow (1/2 mile from where you grew up) that lasted a couple weeks! There. Now I feel better. :)

Yeah, I was a little disappointed with the blizzard. However, it kept a TON of people off the roads, which was the point, so that was good! It did feel like Friday yesterday, until I had to go to work today... and now TODAY feels like Friday, so it was really like 2 Fridays in a row!
