Heart Felt Garland

Here's a sweet and simple way to brighten your home for the Valentine's holiday season!  In celebration of the fact that I finally bought pinking shears for myself the other day, I decided to make an easy little garland.

 Yay for pinking shears!

Step 1: Cut hearts
Using your pinking shears (or other scissors of choice) cut hearts out of felt--as many as you like.

Step 2: Sew hearts together
Using a sewing machine (or hand sewing if you're in the mood) stitch your hearts together into a tidy little line, spacing the hearts as close or far apart as desired.  Make sure to sew across the top of the hearts (rather than through the middle section) so that your hearts stay upright.  (See above photo.)

Also, be sure to leave your thread ends extra long before you start sewing and after you finish sewing.  This will give you enough extra to allow for hanging.

Step 3: Hang and enjoy!
You're finished!  Pop that garland up on a wall, door, or window for a cheery little bit of festivity.  :)

If you make your own be sure to add your pictures to the Flickr group!  :)

Excellent color choice! The garland is beautiful and the pinking shears were well worth it.

This is so cute, Katie. Don't you just love your new pinking shears? I don't even use them that often, but when I do... so nice. I think I need one of these in my daughters' playroom.
