PJ's on and a much better day today

I know what you were thinking when you saw the last post.

"When are we going to see the jammies on?"

Well, here you have it.  Lots of pictures of the jammies on.

All info on clothing patterns can be found in this post.
Sweet little shoes made from this pattern available at Winter Peach.

Headed back inside...
It was pretty cold today and Olivia was a champ about taking pictures (even though she really just wanted to play "dee" (a.k.a. Starfall--I don't know why she calls it "dee.")), but after a few minutes she was ready to go back in where it was warm.  And I couldn't blame her.

I really hate to have my life be so dependent on the weather, but right now it just is.  While Olivia seems to have finally gotten over her "no hats ever" policy, she's still holding strong on the the "no mittens ever" policy.  Or at least she was last time I tried.  But even with a warm head, cold hands make for miserable outside time.  Like walks.  And other fun things.

But it's not just Olivia.  I haven't been interested in going out in 8 to 20 degree weather either.  It's just not fun to be so cold.  (My sympathies to all of you who are living in places that are even colder.)

So, as a result, we've been staying inside a lot the past couple of days.  No walks.  No outings.  Just chillin' at home.  Which is fun... for a while.

The PJ top also looks great with a pair of jeans.  :)
Olivia's ordinarily a really well-behaved kid.  Of course she pulls the movies off the shelf and bangs her water sippy cup on the ground so it makes a little puddle to play in, but these are minor things that I think even the best behaved children would do.  (I mean, who wouldn't want to play in a puddle?)  Anyway, usually she's a pretty chill kid.  Reads books with Mommy.  Plays with her dollhouse and cars.  Calm kid stuff.

But the last couple of days have brought out the not-so-fun in her and, sadly, in my life as a parent.

"Ok Baby.  You sit wite heow."
As she moves into being more of a toddler and less of a baby, more of her toddler tenancies are showing.  You know, things like testing limits.  Doing things she knows she's not supposed to do just to see what I'll do.  And then laughing about it.

"No Baby.  No hitting."
I'll leave out the little details and just say that the past two days have not been my brightest.  Learning how to constructively discipline a 17 month old wears on me quickly.  And part of me thinks that she doesn't fully understand her actions or their consequences and that I'm just being uppity.

But then she hits me and says "no" and laughs and I know that I'm wrong.  She definitely knows what she's doing and that it's not what Mommy's asked her to do.  And she thinks it's funny.

Gah.  What to do?

Luckily, she mostly seems to only be naughty when she's tired.  In which case it's just a signal to me that she's ready for a nap.  But I think, in some ways, she's also been doing it out of boredom.

So, anyway, this is all by way of saying that today has been a much better day.  First we had preschool time with lots of fun friends (not to mention a chance to get out of the house!).  And then we got to go on a walk with some of our other favorite people.  Lots of out-of-the-house time plus lots of running around and playing time has equaled a very much happier and well-behaved Olivia... and Mommy.

So, it may still be rather chilly out today.  But thank heavens it's warmed up enough to be out and about!

P.S.  This is what I mean about that dolly headband...
"Comeeow Baby."

"Hmm.  What's dat fing you have on yo head?"

"Uh oh."

"Uh oh."

"Uh oh."

Funny, sweet girl.  :)

My kids generally wake up charming little people and then progressively naughtier the more tired they are. :)

Oh man. Those pictures are so fun. Did Olivia really say all those things?! I love the pictures when she's looking straight in the camera and cheesy-grinning-it. She looks a lot like Bryan there. I have no knowledge or advise. But learn lots of good things and I'll be coming to you in a little bit for help!

The jammies are super cute! Love that you made a matching set! Olivia is just adorable!

And I'm ready for some 'get outside' weather too! I'm missing my walks!

Just remember what Bill Cosby always said to his kids: "I brought you into this world and I can take you out..." That's how I parent.

Olivia is absolutely adorable! Alan and I love watching her during Church. You did an excellent job on the pajamas. I really like the two fabrics together. And, I'm totally feeling the same way about the cold and about being couped up indoors. My awesome sister-in-law came down to babysit for us yesterday and it was so nice to be able to get out of the house and go do something!

How Cute! Did Olivia really say those things??? James is never going to talk! PS, same here with the winter inside naughty boredom. James started biting, and so every time he would try to bite, I would put him down(meaning not hold him or play with him even for just a sec). It ended the biting, but he just moved to slapping. I mean, I'm sure I can do the same thing again, but sooner or later the snow is just going to have to melt, and the sun is just going to have to come out so that my kiddo can have a more positive outlet for all his energy!!!
