Twice a year
We get to hear
Our Prophet dear
Watch it HERE
For those of you not familiar with the LDS faith (commonly known as the Mormon church), let me explain a little. We believe in living prophets as the Lord's mouthpiece in times past as well as in our own present time. The prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson (center in photo above). While we have many opportunities throughout the year to hear his prophetic counsel and encouraging words, General Conference--an annual and semi annual church event--is a special opportunity to hear from our Prophet as well as many other wonderful church leaders.
In addition to the sessions for Young Women (teenage girls), the Relief Society (women), and Priesthood (teenage boys and men) that take place at other times, General Conference consists of four sessions--two sessions today (Saturday) at 10 am and 2 pm MST and two sessions tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 am and 2 pm MST.
Whether you are a member of the LDS faith or not, I encourage you to take part in General Conference and listen to the words of these wonderful church leaders. Their words are inspiring, uplifting, and encouraging. To come away from watching General Conference without some things in mind that I want to change about myself would mean that I wasn't really listening. Because, when I do listen, my heart is changed, my mind is opened, and I am a better person afterward if I can apply the things I learn as I watch and listen to General Conference.
If you come to General Conference with a question in your mind or a problem that you're unsure of how to solve, answers will come. Heavy hearts will come away less burdened. These are the blessings of the Spirit. And such is always present when we watch and listen to our dear Prophet, Apostles, and other church leaders at General Conference with an open mind and an open heart, ready to accept the word of God.
