4 years and counting

an engaged us

Happy Anniversary to us!

Four years ago today we were busy getting married and all that jazz.  Today we're sitting on the sofa vegging out while Olivia busies herself with little things around the living room.  No offense to weddings or anything, but I'd definitely rather be doing the later.

Truth be told, Bryan and I are both pretty terrible at remembering our anniversary.  There are two reasons for this.  We got married December 28th, 2007.  So, first of all, we both get the 7 and 8 in that date mixed up all the time.  And, second of all, you may notice this date is only three days after Christmas.

If we weren't so in love and ready to get married I might have realized what a huge inconvenience this would be for our families (that live on opposite ends of the United States) to deal with a wedding only three days after Christmas.  But I was blissfully oblivious.  Or maybe I just didn't care.  Anyway, we got married.  But we're both pretty bad at remembering what day it was.

I thought after four years we were getting better at this, but then yesterday this happened...

Bryan's mom: Hey, Katie, I'll tend Olivia for you tomorrow night so you guys can go out on a date.
Me: Uhh... Thanks?
Bryan's mom: gives me an expecting look...
Me: Oh!  Is tomorrow the 28th?  For some reason I thought it was on Thursday.

This exact same conversation happened almost word for word later when my mother in law made the same offer to Bryan.  But, hey, at least we're both terrible about it.  Otherwise someone's feelings would be hurt.

As for big plans for the day, we obviously haven't made any.  After all, we're already on vacation and we just got/gave lots of presents three days ago.  However, I do have my heart set on sharing (maybe) a big giant plate of nachos with the shredded beef and guacamole and all that yummy good stuff.  Nothing says "Four years of marriage is great!" like a giant plate of nachos.  Ya know?

Happy anniversary! If it makes you feel better, I have a hard time remembering if Dix's birthday is on May 3 or May 5. I haven't ever really screwed it up yet, but I tend to tell other people the wrong thing. Which wouldn't be a problem if we both would just forget it, but as it is... Well, you can see how it could be problematic

You guys crack me up. Your mothers-in-law remember better than you do. Haha. Happy Anniversary!

Hahahaha...Happy Anniversary! Yeah, December Anniversaries are harder to celebrate. It took me a while to remember whether we got married on the 20th or 21st, but Eric came up with a way for me to remember since we were 21 when we got married.

Of course your mother-in-laws remember better...they're the ones who had to put on the wedding. :)

Haha! We are going out tonight to celebrate your anniversary. :) Well, it's for our anniversary tomorrow, but we're going out tonight. We're celebrating our love by dipping yummy things in big vat of melted cheese (and other such fondues) while your older brother babysits.

Wish you had shared this post a while ago. :) My brother is getting married today, and while I am excited for him, it is 3 days after Christmas, so I am unable to be at his wedding.
And so funny, that seems to be what we do to celebrate our anniversary. Just something easy to eat at home usually, and usually just putting the kids to bed early!
Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary - I hope you have a lovely time celebrating. Nachos sound a good celebratory meal to me :)

Haha! I know that's why we wanted to get married on Mark's birthday. Man, December is the month to win all the money! (Or spend all the money...)
Anyway, happy happy anniversary! Yay! Eat so many nachos!

At least this year we knew that it was the 28th.....we just forgot which day of the week the 28th was on. That's SOME progress!

Exactly the reason I wanted a mathmatical formula for my wedding day...but Nick vetoed that. Plus it always throws me that our reception was the night before! Happy Anniversary to you!!!
