On Thursday we went to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. The kids had a blast seeing all the airplanes. Although Olivia was not such a big fan of the huge space shuttle. I think the size was a little daunting.
While I'm not really any kind of airplane enthusiast, I do love to soak in the bright colors and picturesque designs. I love the classic, striking color combos, the juxtaposition of bright paint on hard metal next to clear glass. There's something in all that that really appeals to me.
And it's all just that much better when Olivia's pointing at things the whole time gasping and saying, "Wow! Look at THAT!"
My only regret is that the lighting in the museum is not great for taking pictures on a junky little point and shoot camera like mine. The lighting sets a great mood for a fun, industrial-style museum. But it is terrible for taking pictures.
My younger brother-in-law brought out his new real (DSLR) camera a couple days ago and I have been bitter with jealousy ever since. Okay, maybe not bitter with jealousy. But I do want a nice camera of my own SO bad. Sadly, they are real expensive. So for now I've promised myself that either I'll buy one with money I earn from my shop (like, over the next ten years--boo hoo) or I'll buy myself one once Bryan graduates and we finally have a real income.
In the meantime, I'll just be bitter with jealousy. And I guess I'll just keep doing my best with my junky little point and shoot. After all, even my sad little camera still lets me take fun pictures like these.
