It's Christmas Eve!
Needless to say, I'm super excited. And I think the three little little girls here would be a lot more excited if they were old enough to know what was going on (i.e. presents tomorrow!).
It's funny, though, how much the weather plays a part in the whole scene of Christmas. Maybe it's different if you've grown up someplace like Florida where it's warm and sunny year-round. But when you've grown up somewhere with, ya know, four seasons, it's weird to not have it be super cold and snowy and everything on Christmas Eve.
Not that it was ever snowy on Christmas Eve when I was growing up in Oregon. Portland is so temperate that it's more likely it was just raining or icy on Christmas Eve. But at least there was some element of a change in the weather.
Where we've been visiting family for the past couple weeks, the weather has been absolutely beautiful. It's been 50 or 60 degree weather every day. And don't get me wrong--I'm totally happy about that. But it's weird to finally have arrived here at Christmas Eve and still not have cold weather. And, no, we're not in Florida.
But all of this is beside the point. The reason for this post is to say,
It's Christmas Eve! Yay!
Any fun traditions going on in your house tonight?
