The big two six

Me at the Tillamook Cheese Factory last week

Today, my friends, I am 26.  I woke up to Olivia saying, "Happy birfday, Mommy!", Bryan changing Olivia's diaper (although I really was getting up to do it) and a hearty chorus of "Happy Birthday" from Bryan and my in-laws.  So, ya know, it's already been a pretty fabulous day.

Made more fabulous by getting to clip my nails.  I hate having long nails (always have, always will) and I hadn't gotten a chance to sit and clip them in the last couple of weeks, so they were due for a good trimming.  As I sat alone in the shade of the grass in my my in-laws' back yard, I couldn't help but feel that clipping my nails, sending the trimmings into the grass, was like spreading the magic of my birthday.  Earth fertilized with magic.

I hope the magic soaks in deep and sprouts up wherever you are today.  Birthdays are special.  I hope your today is special too.

Oh, we had such a lovely birth day party for you 26 years ago! Thinking about your arrival makes me smile every time. I know I've told you this, but for some time before I became pregnant with you, I would be on outings with your 4 older siblings, and count noses to make sure no one had been kidnapped, and find that I would count to 5 every time. Every time. I was missing you before you were born, and I miss you now. Have a WONDERFUL day! We'll call soon. Love you SO much.

Happy birthday, Katie! I sure do miss you and your sweet family.

P.S. Short nails are totally the way to go.

I'm glad you fertilize the grass with your fingernail clippings and not with ... other things. Ha ha, just kidding!

I love you! Happy birthday.

Yeah I'm not sure about the whole fertilizer thing...but I guess it is better than a lot of places stray fingernails could be!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (said like Gus Gus of course) Hope you had a fun day filled with sugar cookies ;)

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, KATIE!!! You are going to rock 26. And thank you for that awesome nail clipping analogy. Fertilizing the earth with birthday magic is way underdone.
