4 Simple Goals
*to complete by the end of this year
1. Finish the rough draft copy of my book
It's definitely not finished yet (it doesn't even feel close!), but I have been working away on it like a little maniac. It feels so good to have such a fun purpose to fill my days when Olivia's off at preschool. Not to mention a good reason to buy pretty sewing supplies.
2. Make all of the Christmas gifts we're giving this year by hand
One down, one in progress, and a few more to dream up.
3. Eat a fresh fruit or vegetable every day
I admit I haven't religiously been keeping track, but I don't think I've missed a day so far. Though it does get tricky when we're low on fruits and veggies, usually right before a big shopping trip when we're low on just about everything. Something to work on I guess. Oh, and, PS, I made fresh salsa again the other day. Yum.
4. Find, open, and read the instruction manual for my camera
I found it! I opened it! And I've started reading it! I finally located the box that our camera came in. Woot! Though I was disappointed to find that the instruction manual is a PDF that I had to upload to the computer. Boo. Not so much boo to having to upload it, but boo to not being able to hold a paper manual in my hand and carry it around with me. Lame, lame, lame. And not really my style. But I'm going to get over it and work on this goal anyway. So far I read about one paragraph and then got overwhelmed. Here's to getting back on the horse.
6 Fitness Goals/Rules
1. No treats except on holidays and birthdays
I admit it. I ate treats on a day that was off limits. But I did it on purpose. It had been a crappy crap crap day and something had to give. I chose treats. I'm not broken up about it and I haven't done it since. Anyway, except for that one day, I've been a champ about this. Yay to me. And yay for fat free sugar free instant pudding. And banana non-ice cream ice cream. Yummm. Also, never have I been so excited about a 2 year-old's birthday party with mini ice cream cones. :)
2. Run, go on a walk, go on the exercise bike, or do the exercise video every day, 7 days a week. 3 of those days need to be the exercise video. (Sundays optional when a quiet walk isn't an option.)
I admit, I have not been great about this. Something always seemed to come up last week. So I did go on several walks (and maybe one run?), but no exercise video yet. I had planned on embarking on that expedition today, but an unfortunate series of events left me with only 4 hours of sleep last night and no energy this morning. Maybe this evening? Also, just between you and me, I'm starting to feel kind of "over" running. I go through phases. But I do really like my running buddies, so I'm trying not to be a major flake. Trying, but not necessarily succeeding. Hmm.
3. Eat a serving of fruits and/or veggies at lunch and dinner.
I haven't been 100% great about this, but I haven't been a complete and utter failure either. Still working on it.
4. Drink a full glass of water before having a snack. Go for fruits and veggies before other stuff.
I was good about this for like 2 days and then got sick of it. I'm going to try again.
5. Eat another serving of fruits and/or veggies before having seconds of a main dish.
This rule will make more sense at Christmas time when we're visiting relatives. Right now we usually only make (or get from dinner group) one serving of each thing per meal anyway, so it hasn't really been an issue. Win-win I guess.
6. Start getting ready for bed at 10:30 pm. Get in bed no later than 11:00 pm.
FAILURE. I don't think this has happened once. Well, maybe once when I was feeling really sick and stuff last week. But that was the one and only time. I have mixed feelings about this goal because, while it is something I aspire to, it is 100% not me. I am a night owl. And sometimes I can do the early riser thing. But getting in bed at 11pm is such a struggle for me because I'm genuinely not tired then, even when I woke up at 6am that morning. So... it's kind of something I'm working towards, but I'm not beating myself up when it doesn't happen. Don't tell my mom.
What about you guys? Any goals you're working on?
